Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day and it is really a day full of warmth. As usual, moms are treated to a sumptuous dinner, lunch or high tea. Some give moms gifts like necklaces, health products and etc..

However, now i'm not going to extol my mom's virtues as i know she is the best there. As i read the papers, then i realise it is the 1st year anniversary of the Sichuan quake in China somewhere this week. Yes, one year ago, many kids lost not only their beloved mothers, but also their family.

Thousands of children became orphans, many more lost their homes. It was really tragic and every time I look at the pictures or news, my heart sink. This year’s Mother’s Day must be really hard for those kids who lost their mothers. Papers show the kids who somehow survived but some have lost their limbs and are going to be dependent in artificial limbs for the rest of their lives. It's really heart wrenching.

I’m fortunate to still have my mom with me, someone whom I can tell her “I love you”, someone whom I can still rely on (almost everything). This year, I ordered an branded leg massager to be delivered to her on Mother’s Day because I know her legs are aching from hours of standing tending a food stall.

Therefore, if you still have your mother around you, you are really fortunate. Please give her a big warm hug and tell her the three magical words “I Love You” because it’s not hard to say. You’ll never know how much those kids in China wanted to say but never given a chance to do it, anymore…

God bless those children who lost their parents and hope they will be strong and be guided in life all the time. And to those without their lovely mothers around, you know they’re up there smiling at you everyday, the guiding angels.

Happy Mother’s Day!
